You cancel dinner with friends because you’ve been “on” all day. You avoid your partner’s conversational needs because you’ve been listening to problems for eight hours. The activities that would restore Fe become the activities you’re too depleted to engage with, creating a cycle that standard self-care advice doesn’t interrupt.

Structural Changes That Actually Help

The breakthrough sessions matter, but so do the ones where you simply witness their experience without trying to transform it.

For ENFJs accustomed to measuring your worth by your impact on others, accepting that good-enough therapy preserves your sustainability better than exceptional therapy in every session requires fundamentally rethinking what success means. Your effectiveness isn’t measured only by client transformation. It’s also measured by whether you can sustain this work long enough for your experience to deepen, your wisdom to mature, your capacity to help to extend across decades rather than burning out brilliant in five years.

When Leaving Clinical Work Isn’t Failure
